The leader of a failed coup in Benin, Colonel Tigri Pascal, has sought refuge in neighboring Togo, according to a senior Benin government official.

The coup attempt, which occurred on Sunday, involved soldiers briefly taking control of Benin’s state television station and claiming to have deposed President Patrice Talon.
