An Ibom Air flight from Abuja to Lagos was forced to return to the capital after poor weather conditions prevented it from landing.
Human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong, a passenger on the flight, said the plane took off at 7:10 AM and hovered over Lagos for about 30 minutes before changing course.
“We’re back in Abuja. Two hours in the air. The captain handled it well,” Effiong wrote on X. The airline has not issued an official statement on the incident.
Poor weather has caused flight cancellations and delays across Nigerian airlines, with Air Peace announcing delays on some flights in September due to heavy rainfall in Lagos and Port Harcourt.
