South Africa has arrested and will deport seven Kenyan nationals who were working illegally on processing refugee applications for the US government.
The Kenyans had entered South Africa on tourist visas, despite earlier visa applications for the work being denied.
The incident may worsen already strained relations between the US and South Africa, with the South African government strongly denying claims of racial persecution against white South Africans, a justification used by the Trump administration to bring thousands of white South Africans to the US under a resettlement program.
