President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Shamsedeen Babatunde Ogunjimi as the new Accountant General of the Federation, effective March 7, 2025.
Ogunjimi’s appointment follows a rigorous and merit-based selection process, which included a written assessment, ICT proficiency test, and oral interviews.
Ogunjimi, 57, brings a wealth of experience to the role, with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and a Master’s in Accounting and Finance from the University of Lagos.
He is also a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.
President Tinubu urged Ogunjimi to carry out his duties with integrity, professionalism, and dedication to national service.
Ogunjimi’s appointment is expected to strengthen fiscal accountability and efficiency in government financial management, in line with the administration’s commitment to good governance and economic reforms.
