Professor Raji was a Professor of Agricultural and Environmental Engineering at the University of Ibadan, where he was widely respected for his contributions to teaching, research and the mentorship of generations of students. His academic career was marked by a commitment to excellence and the advancement of knowledge within his field.

Beyond academia, Prof. Raji also served Nigeria in the public sector as a Resident Electoral Commissioner in Osun, Ekiti and Ogun states. During his tenure, he played a significant role in strengthening democratic processes and electoral administration in the country.

The Society described him as a man of sound intellect, integrity and deep Islamic values, noting that his relationship with MSSN was characterised by sincere commitment, moral guidance and consistent support for the spiritual and intellectual development of Muslim students.

According to the statement, Prof. Raji was a constant source of encouragement and wisdom to both members and leaders of the Society.

Citing the Qur’an, the MSSN statement recalled the verse, “Every soul shall taste death” (Qur’an 3:185), while reflecting on what it described as a life devoted to service to knowledge, humanity and Islam. The Society said Prof. Raji’s legacy in academia, public service and Islamic activism would remain a lasting testament to a life lived in obedience to Allah and service to mankind.

The leadership and members of MSSN B-Zone extended their condolences to Prof. Raji’s family, his colleagues at the University of Ibadan, his associates, students and the entire Muslim Ummah. They prayed for Allah to grant them patience and comfort during what they described as a moment of great loss.

The statement also referenced the Qur’anic assurance, “And give glad tidings to those who are patient” (Qur’an 2:155), as it offered prayers for the late professor. MSSN B-Zone prayed that Allah forgive him, have mercy on him, pardon his shortcomings, honour his abode, expand his grave and admit him into Al-Firdaws al-A‘lā.

The statement concluded with prayers that Allah accept Prof. Raji’s good deeds and grant him the highest place in Jannah, affirming that to Allah all belong and to Him all shall return.

The statement was signed by Dr. Kolawole Moshood Adelaja, Amir of MSSN B-Zone, and Mallam Abiola Tahiru, Public Relations Officer.
