A massive fire has engulfed the 22-storey Great Nigeria Insurance House located on Martins Street, Lagos Island.
The incident was confirmed in a situation report released by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).

According to the report, signed by LASEMA’s Public Safety Officer, Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, the fire is believed to have originated from an apartment on the fourth floor of the building. The blaze rapidly spread across the floor and later extended to the sixth floor, driven by strong upward momentum.
As of the time of reporting, the number of casualties remains unknown, with firefighting and rescue operations still ongoing.

Emergency response teams at the scene include officials from LASEMA, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the Federal Fire Service, Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC), the Nigeria Police, the Red Cross, and LRU Paramedics.
Authorities confirmed that six fire trucks and a skylift have been deployed, while the LRU Fire team has also been activated to support containment and rescue efforts.
Recovery operations are currently underway, and emergency officials have assured the public that further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
