President Bola Tinubu has expressed his condolences following the death of Chief Arthur Christopher Mbanefo, Nigeria’s former Permanent Representative to the United Nations, who passed away at the age of 95.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser, Bayo Onanuga, the President remembered Mbanefo as a distinguished accounting icon, administrator, and elder statesman who served Nigeria with unwavering integrity and patriotism.
Highlighting Mbanefo’s significant contributions to both the public and private sectors, Tinubu noted that he pioneered key innovations in the nation’s accounting and tax systems.
Mbanefo’s remarkable career also included serving as the Pro-Chancellor for three of Nigeria’s most prestigious universities: the University of Lagos, Obafemi Awolowo University, and Ahmadu Bello University.
The President extended his sympathies to Mbanefo’s family, friends, and the people of Anambra State, urging them to find comfort in the enduring legacy he leaves behind.
