Popular businessman and Chief Executive Officer of Nuel Ojei Holdings Ltd, Emmanuel Ojei, has died at the age of 74.
Fondly known as Nuel Ojei, the industrialist passed away on Saturday night after a brief illness in his hometown of Issele-Uku, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The death was confirmed on Sunday by his son, Chuks Ojei, in a statement issued on behalf of the family, describing the loss as a profound shock and a devastating personal tragedy.
“With a heavy heart, I confirm the passing of my beloved father,” the statement read. “His death came as a profound shock to our family following a brief illness. Words cannot fully capture the depth of our pain as we struggle to come to terms with the sudden loss of a man who was not only our father, but our strength, teacher, and moral compass.”

Chuks Ojei described his late father as more than a successful businessman, noting that he was a builder of lives and legacies. He said the deceased was a distinguished Nigerian industrialist, entrepreneur, and business magnate who served as the Founder, Executive Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer of Nuel Ojei Holdings Ltd.
According to the statement, Emmanuel Ojei built enterprises that created opportunities, inspired excellence, and contributed significantly to national development through discipline, resilience, and uncommon wisdom.
“To many, he was a mentor and leader of rare integrity. To us, he was a loving father whose counsel guided our steps and whose values shaped our lives,” the statement added. “He led with humility, strength, and compassion, touching countless lives across generations.”
The family noted that his death has left an irreplaceable void but stressed that his teachings, values, and example would continue to endure through the institutions he built and the people he mentored.
Emmanuel Ojei is survived by his children, family members, and a wide circle of friends, associates, and admirers. The family appealed for prayers and support, adding that funeral arrangements would be announced in due course.
