Armed bandits launched a brazen attack on commuters along the Danjibga–Kuncin Kalgo road in Zamfara State on Friday, abducting all passengers from two vehicles before setting the cars on fire.

According to reports, the assailants blocked the road in the Tsafe Local Government Area before ambushing the unsuspecting travelers and seizing the occupants.

As of Saturday, the exact number of abductees and their whereabouts remain unknown.

This incident starkly highlights the persistent insecurity on highways in the region, occurring just days after Nigerian security forces had cleared and declared the nearby Gusau–Magami–Dansadau Road safe for public use following a deadly IED explosion that killed at least eight people on December 27.
