The trial for Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, the driver involved in the fatal highway crash carrying boxer Anthony Joshua, has been adjourned until January 20, 2026, by a Sagamu Magistrate Court.

Kayode was arraigned on Friday on a four-count charge, including manslaughter and reckless driving, following the Monday collision on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway that killed two of Joshua’s close associates, Sina Ghami and Kevin Latif Ayodele.

Authorities stated the postponement will allow for further proceedings in the case.

The court granted the 46-year-old driver bail for ₦5 million with two sureties, but he will be remanded in custody until the conditions are met.

Preliminary investigations from the Federal Road Safety Corps suggest the crash was caused by excessive speeding and a wrongful overtaking maneuver that led to the Lexus SUV smashing into a stationary truck.
