Nigeria’s Super Eagles have qualified for the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after defeating Algeria 2–0 on Saturday at the Grand Stade de Marrakech.

The match was tightly contested in the first half, with Nigeria dominating possession and creating several chances, but Algeria defender Ramy Bensebaini made important clearances to keep the score level at the break.

Nigeria broke the deadlock two minutes into the second half when Victor Osimhen scored with a powerful header from a Bruno Onyemaechi cross. It was Osimhen’s fourth goal of the tournament.

Ten minutes later, the Super Eagles doubled their lead through Akor Adams. Alex Iwobi provided a clever pass to Osimhen, who squared the ball for Adams to calmly beat goalkeeper Luca Zidane and slot into an empty net.

Algeria struggled throughout the match and failed to register a single shot on target, even after making several substitutions in the second half.

Alex Iwobi was outstanding in midfield, while Calvin Bassey led the defence effectively. Wilfred Ndidi received a yellow card, but Nigeria remained solid to see out the game.

The victory sets up a semi-final clash between Nigeria and tournament hosts Morocco, as the Super Eagles continue their push for a fourth AFCON title.
