The senator representing Nasarawa South Senatorial District, Ogoshi Onawo, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Onawo announced his decision in a letter dated January 10, 2026, addressed to the PDP chairman of Galadimawa Ward in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. He said the resignation took immediate effect.
In the letter, the lawmaker explained that his decision was based on personal reasons and followed careful consideration. He did not raise any grievances against the party.
Onawo thanked the PDP leadership, members and supporters for giving him the platform to serve his constituents over the years. He also expressed appreciation for the trust and support he received during his time in the party and wished the PDP continued progress and success.
The senator did not disclose his next political move. However, he has been linked to the African Democratic Congress after he was reportedly seen at the party’s meeting in July 2025.
