Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates have officially signed a comprehensive economic partnership agreement on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.
President Bola Tinubu announced the deal, which grants thousands of Nigerian products, from fish and seafood to pharmaceuticals, duty-free access to the UAE market.
This partnership is designed to boost Nigeria’s export sector, support its industrialization goals, and provide UAE investors with greater confidence to invest in Nigeria’s economy.
In return, Nigeria will phase out tariffs on about 6,000 products, primarily industrial inputs and machinery that will help strengthen its own productive capacity.
The agreement also provides protections for Nigerian businesses operating in the UAE and allows Nigerian business visitors to enter the country for up to 90 days to explore opportunities.
