Senegal booked their place in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Egypt in Wednesday’s semi-final clash in Tangiers.

Sadio Mané proved the difference, striking in the 78th minute to settle a tense encounter between two continental heavyweights. The Senegal captain capitalised on sustained pressure from the Lions of Teranga, who controlled possession for large spells against a disciplined and cautious Egyptian side.

Egypt, record champions of the tournament, adopted a conservative approach, focusing on defensive solidity and looking to frustrate their opponents. However, Senegal’s persistence eventually paid off as Mané found the breakthrough late in the game.

The win sends Senegal into Sunday’s final, where they will face either hosts Morocco or Nigeria, who meet in the second semi-final.
