Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf is meeting with President Bola Tinubu in Abuja amid speculation of his planned defection from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The meeting, taking place at the Presidential Villa, follows weeks of reports on Yusuf’s possible switch, causing tension between his supporters and political godfather Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

The governor’s planned defection has been a topic of discussion, with negotiations reportedly stalled over an automatic 2027 ticket for Yusuf.

The meeting with Tinubu might be an attempt to resolve these issues and pave the way for his switch to the APC.

Yusuf’s potential defection has significant implications for Kano State politics and the NNPP.

The governor’s decision could impact the party’s dynamics and the 2027 elections.
