Muhoozi Kainerugaba, son of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, has claimed responsibility for killing 22 members of the opposition National Unity Platform (NUP), stating that opposition leader Bobi Wine is the “twenty-third” target.
Kainerugaba, who is also Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, made the remarks on social media, sparking controversy amid Museveni’s disputed re-election.
Wine had earlier reported a military and police raid on his home, saying he narrowly escaped but his family members remain detained.
Wine has rejected the election results, calling them fraudulent, and condemned violence against protesters.
