The weather alert covers 52 of Algeria’s 69 provinces, mostly in the northern region where about 80% of the population lives.

The Civil Defense Authority has urged citizens to take precautions to avoid accidents, especially after recent heavy rainfall caused flooding and resulted in two deaths.

Air Algérie has postponed several Wednesday flights, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports has suspended sporting activities for the weekend due to the severe weather conditions.
