The Nigerian Senate has fixed March 17, 2026, for the final consideration and passage of the ₦58.472 trillion 2026 Appropriation Bill.
The Senate’s Committee on Appropriations approved February 2-13, 2026, for committee-level budget estimates consideration and February 9, 2026, for a public hearing.
Key economic managers, including Finance Minister Wale Edun and Budget Minister Atiku Bagudu, will attend an interactive session on March 5, 2026.
The committee will submit reports on budget defence by February 23, 2026, ahead of the Appropriations Committee’s report presentation on March 17.
The Senate initially preferred a March 12 passage but agreed to an additional week for thorough scrutiny.
Hard copies of the 2026 budget have been distributed to Senate standing committee chairmen and members.
