Chippa United have announced the departure of Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali following a formal request by the Nigerian international to leave the club.

In a statement posted on the club’s official X account on Thursday, the Port Elizabeth-based side confirmed that the 28-year-old asked to be released from his contract, a request the club approved after reviewing the situation.

“Chippa United Football Club confirms that Stanley Nwabali has formally submitted a request to depart the club. After careful consideration, the club has agreed to grant his release,” the statement said.

The club expressed appreciation for Nwabali’s professionalism and commitment during his time with the Chilli Boys, thanking him for his contributions on and off the pitch.
“We would like to sincerely thank Stanley Nwabali for the years of service, commitment, and professionalism he has shown during his time at Chippa United Football Club. His contribution to the club will always be appreciated,” the club added.
Chippa United also wished the goalkeeper well as he moves on to the next stage of his career.

Nwabali joined the South African side in 2022 and gained widespread recognition following his standout performances for Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, where the Super Eagles finished as runners-up.
His next club has not yet been officially confirmed.
