Nigerian security forces have neutralised notorious bandit kingpin Kachalla Kabiru and several of his lieutenants in a joint military operation in Kogi State.
The operation, which involved precision airstrikes by the Nigerian Air Force, was carried out on February 13, 2026, following weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance that confirmed Kabiru’s presence at a designated hideout.
Kabiru, who had established a strong operational foothold in Kogi State, was identified as one of the earliest and most influential bandit leaders in the region.
He was involved in recruitment, coordination, and movement of bandits across several states, contributing to the expansion of criminal networks.
Kabiru’s operations spanned Kogi, Kwara, Benue, Enugu, Edo, Ekiti, and Ondo states, making him a key node linking criminal groups across state lines.
The successful neutralisation of Kabiru is expected to disrupt operational coordination among criminal elements and deal a significant blow to organised banditry in the North Central zone.
