Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar publicly criticized the initial timing, warning that it could affect meaningful participation during a period traditionally devoted to fasting and spiritual reflection.
The National Assembly has convened an emergency plenary session to reconsider the election timetable, with lawmakers expected to debate the proposal.
INEC has assured the public that it remains sensitive to concerns and will ensure that any adjustments align with constitutional and statutory requirements.
