The 2026 edition of the Spires 5-Aside Naija Street Soccer Tournament is set to begin its divisional qualifiers across all five divisions of Lagos State in April, the organisers announced on Tuesday.
At a media briefing in Lagos, the tournament roadmap for the new season was unveiled, highlighting an expanded focus on player empowerment beyond the pitch.
Teams wishing to participate must be affiliated with the Lagos State Football Association through their respective Divisional Football Associations and register via the official tournament website, www.spires5aside.ng, starting Wednesday, February 18.

This year, the age restrictions have been removed, allowing players younger and older than the previous 19-year minimum to compete, broadening participation across the state.
The Tech-Meet-Sports initiative, launched in 2025, will continue this year, offering players training in technology-related skills such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, coding, and graphic design, in addition to their football development.

Speaking virtually from the United States, Bankole Alibay, the tournament’s initiator, expressed optimism about the upcoming season. “We are excited about every edition of the tournament. You can rest assured that Season 3 will surpass what we have done in the past in all ramifications,” he said.

Last year, Lagos Island-based club White Tigers emerged as champions, taking home N5 million in prize money.
