The Nigerian military has made new arrests linked to an alleged plan to overthrow President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Major H. Yusuf of the Nigerian Army is among those detained, alongside other suspects, in connection with what authorities describe as a coup plot.
Investigations into the matter have been ongoing since 2025, but no formal trial has been initiated, and specifics of the alleged plan remain scarce.
Defence Minister General Christopher Musa revealed he was among senior officials marked for elimination in the alleged plot.
The military had earlier announced the arrest of 16 officers for acts of indiscipline and breaches of service regulations, with evidence later linking some to a plot to destabilize the government.
The alleged coup attempt has raised concerns, with observers describing the situation as opaque.
