Major General Bemgha Koughna, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division and Commander Sector 2 of the Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, has successfully foiled a deadly ambush orchestrated by suspected Lakurawa terrorist Group (LTG) near Mayama Hill in Kebbi State.

The attack occurred while the GOC’s convoy was en route to visit frontline troops deployed in the state.

Koughna and his troops demonstrated exceptional leadership and tactical prowess, responding with overwhelming firepower and neutralizing five terrorists.

The army recovered a significant cache of weapons, including one OJC Gun, one PKT Gun, two AK-47 Rifles, and four AK-47 Magazines, as well as other materials.

The operation underscores the Nigerian Army’s ongoing efforts to contain and dismantle terrorist elements operating within the region. Troops remain on high alert in the area to prevent further attacks.
