Suspected bandits have attacked a commercial bus along the Ijowa–Ijagbe axis in Mopamuro Local Government Area, Kogi State abducting several passengers, eyewitnesses report.
The incident occurred on Friday evening when the assailants reportedly emerged from nearby bushes and opened fire on the vehicle while it was in transit.
The bus driver was shot during the attack and sustained critical injuries. He has been rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.

According to one eyewitness, six passengers—five men and one woman—were abducted, while the remaining passengers managed to escape. The gunmen fled the scene immediately after the attack.
Security agencies are yet to release an official statement on the incident. Residents of the area say the attack has heightened fear and raised renewed concerns over the rising insecurity in Mopamuro Local Government Area.
