A Nigerian female footballer, Ihotu John Rebecca, has reportedly been kidnapped by unknown gunmen along the Benin Expressway while returning home.
Rebecca, who plays for Pacesetter Queens in the Nigeria Women’s Football League Premiership, was allegedly abducted during her journey along the busy highway, which has recorded several security incidents in recent times.
Family sources disclosed that her captors have demanded a ransom of ₦20 million for her release.

As of the time of filing this report, security agencies have yet to issue an official statement confirming the incident, but efforts are said to be ongoing to secure her freedom.
Her family has appealed to relevant authorities, football stakeholders, and the general public to assist in ensuring her safe rescue.
