Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area, effective immediately, following renewed violent attacks and breaches of peace in Tshobo and Bwatiye communities.
The curfew, announced by Chief Press Secretary Humwashi Wonosikou, aims to restore law and order in the area.
Governor Fintiri has directed security agencies to strictly enforce the curfew and urged residents to cooperate and provide information to help restore peace.
This development follows an attack on Bwatiye community by the Tshobo tribe, which had previously clashed with Bwatiye, resulting in loss of lives and property.
A peace accord signed last year, brokered by Governor Fintiri, had brought temporary calm to the area.
The governor has warned that anyone violating the curfew will be arrested and prosecuted. Security agencies have been deployed to maintain peace and order in Lamurde LGA.
