The Court of Appeal in Akure has affirmed Wole Oluyede as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2026 election in Ekiti state.
The unanimous judgment set aside an earlier federal high court decision that nullified the party’s primary election.
The appellate court held that the PDP primary election, conducted by the national working committee (NWC) led by Kabiru Turaki, was lawful and properly conducted.
Oluyede, a medical expert, secured 279 votes to defeat Funso Ayeni, his closest challenger, who received 239 votes.
The PDP had filed an appeal after the federal high court in Ado-Ekiti nullified the primary election held on November 8 and 9, 2025.
