President Bola Tinubu has sworn in Taiwo Oyedele as the Minister of State for Finance, a role he is expected to use to drive fiscal reforms and economic growth. The ceremony took place at the State House in Abuja on Monday.
Oyedele, a seasoned economist and public policy expert, brings a wealth of experience to the position.
He previously served as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, leading efforts to overhaul Nigeria’s tax system.
His committee’s work resulted in four executive bills that consolidated over 60 taxes into fewer than 10 statutes, introducing significant reforms, including a zero income tax rate for Nigerians earning N800,000 annually or less.
Oyedele’s appointment is expected to reinforce the administration’s efforts to deepen fiscal reforms and strengthen Nigeria’s economic governance framework.
