President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Muslims in Nigeria and across the world on the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, urging them to remain committed to the values of Ramadan.
In a message released through his media aide, Bayo Onanuga, the President called on Muslim faithful to uphold the virtues of piety, compassion, unity and selflessness beyond the holy month.
He emphasised the need for Nigerians to draw from the lessons of Ramadan, especially at a time when the country requires collective responsibility and understanding.
Tinubu also encouraged Muslims to extend acts of kindness to people of all faiths, promoting unity and peaceful coexistence across the country.
He further urged religious leaders to use the occasion to offer prayers for peace, stability and prosperity in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, who is also the President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, had earlier announced Friday as the day for the Eid celebration, congratulating Muslims on the successful completion of Ramadan.
The Federal Government of Nigeria also declared Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays to mark the occasion.
In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Magdalene Ajani, the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, extended congratulations to Muslims and commended them for successfully completing the Ramadan fast.
