Terrorists who abducted eight worshippers from an ECWA church in Omugo, Kwara State, are demanding a N1 billion ransom for their release.
The kidnappers have rejected an initial N1 million offer from the community and are insisting that the ransom be collected collectively from residents across Oro-Ago.
The pastor of the church, Omole Sunday Timothy, spoke with SaharaReporters, saying attempts to negotiate with the kidnappers have failed.
He added that the abductors have maintained a hardline stance, refusing to reduce their demand despite pleas from the community.
The kidnapped victims include Chief David Afolayan, Chief Joseph Ibitoye Afariogun, Mr. Joshua Adeyemi Jogo, and the pastor’s wife, Mrs. Remilekun Omole.
The pastor confirmed that he spoke with his wife and other victims, who complained of thirst but were otherwise uninjured, except for an elderly man who was hit with a gun.
The attack occurred during a worship session on Sunday, with armed men storming the premises and abducting eight people. This is the third time bandits have targeted the community, raising concerns over escalating insecurity in the area.
