FIFA has opened formal ethics proceedings against three top officials of the Congolese Football Association over alleged financial misconduct involving FIFA funds.

Those under investigation are FECOFOOT President Jean Guy Mayolas, General Secretary Wantete Badji, and Finance Director Raoul Kanda.

In a statement on Wednesday, FIFA said its investigatory chamber reviewed documentation pointing to potential financial irregularities and inconsistencies in the use of allocated funds, establishing a prima facie case to commence proceedings.

The alleged conduct may breach several provisions of the FIFA Code of Ethics, including those relating to misappropriation of funds, forgery, conflicts of interest, and the offering or acceptance of gifts.

FIFA added that the list of potential violations could be expanded as investigations continue, reaffirming its commitment to transparency and accountability in football governance.

The body, however, declined further comment as the case remains ongoing.

The development comes weeks after a court in Brazzaville reportedly convicted Mayolas, his wife, and son in absentia over the alleged embezzlement of about $1.1 million in FIFA funds, sentencing him to life imprisonment on multiple charges.
