The decision is aimed at allowing council members to contest in the forthcoming general elections.

In a statement, Secretary to the Borno State Government, Bukar Tijani, announced that commissioners have been directed to hand over their ministries’ affairs to Permanent Secretaries by April 3, 2026.

Zulum expressed appreciation to the outgoing commissioners for their dedication and contributions to the state’s development.

This move is seen as a strategic step by Zulum to position himself and his team for the 2027 elections.

By dissolving the executive council, Zulum is creating an opportunity for his commissioners to focus on their electoral ambitions, while also allowing him to reshuffle his team and make key appointments that can help him achieve his goals.

The dissolution of the executive council is also expected to bring about changes in the state’s administrative structure, with Permanent Secretaries taking over the reins of the various ministries.

This could lead to a period of transition and adjustment for the state’s civil service.

Zulum’s decision has been met with anticipation and speculation about his future plans and ambitions.

As a prominent politician from the North-East, Zulum has been mentioned as a potential candidate for higher office, and this move could be seen as a step towards positioning himself for a possible presidential run in 2027.
