Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has returned to court in Kaduna for a hearing on his bail application.
El-Rufai was released from the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on compassionate grounds to attend his mother’s burial, who passed away in Egypt on Friday.
He is facing charges of fraud and money laundering, and his bail hearing was adjourned to March 31.
El-Rufai’s mother, Hajiya Umma, was buried on Sunday, and the funeral prayer was attended by several dignitaries, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
The former governor had been in ICPC custody since February 19, after being released by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
