Former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has announced his candidacy for the Delta North senatorial seat in the 2027 general election under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Okowa made the announcement at his residence in Asaba, surrounded by political leaders from the district.
The move was unanimously approved by a delegation of former and serving lawmakers, government officials, and political stakeholders from the nine LGAs of the district.
Okowa described the decision as a “call to serve” and apologized for his previous support of Senator Ned Nwoko, saying it was a “mistake”.
Okowa, a seasoned administrator and consensus builder, expressed his gratitude for the support of the Anioma people, citing their backing during his 2011 senatorial bid and subsequent governorship elections.
