Nigeria’s U-17 women’s team, the Flamingos, continued their strong build-up to the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers with a dominant 7–0 victory over Nazareth Queens in a friendly match in Abuja.
The Flamingos controlled the game from start to finish, taking a 2–0 lead into halftime before delivering a clinical second-half performance to seal another emphatic win.
Wuraola Olayiwola opened the scoring in the eighth minute, while Oluebube Umejiaku doubled the lead in the 34th minute. After the break, Harmony Chidi netted twice in quick succession, before Oluwakemi Adegbuyi converted a penalty to extend the advantage.
Islamiyat Yusuf added a sixth goal, and Favour Enodumwenben completed the rout as the Flamingos secured their second consecutive high-scoring victory in camp, following a 6–0 win over Generation Next.
Head coach Akeem Busari is currently assessing a 36-player squad in Abuja as preparations intensify for the second-round qualifier against Guinea.
The team also received a morale boost after the match, with former Flamingos assistant coach and Super Falcons goalkeeper Precious Dede visiting the camp and presenting training equipment to the players, while encouraging them to stay focused.
Nigeria will face Guinea in a two-legged qualifier in May, with the first leg scheduled to be played away before the return leg in Abuja, as the Flamingos aim to book a place at the 2026 tournament in Morocco.
