Reports have emerged claiming that Rabiu Kwankwaso has directed his supporters to resign from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of a planned defection to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) next week.

According to the reports, the former NNPP leader who recently joined the ADC is expected to move to the NDC alongside Peter Obi, who is also said to be preparing to announce his own defection. It is further alleged that both politicians may eventually emerge on a joint presidential ticket.

The reports also claim that lawmakers who defected from the NNPP to the ADC are expected to resign from the party in preparation for the move to the NDC. Similar discussions are said to be ongoing with legislators aligned with Obi’s political bloc within the ADC.

Meanwhile, sources suggest that some coalition leaders are making last-minute efforts to stop the planned defections, though these efforts are reportedly unlikely to succeed. It is further claimed that Kwankwaso’s political bloc held a meeting with NDC leaders on Sunday night to finalise details of the proposed move.
None of the parties or individuals involved have officially confirmed the reported developments.
