APC Sets May 23 for 2027 Presidential Primary, Denies Postponement Reports

The All Progressives Congress says its presidential primary for the 2027 elections will hold on May 23, 2026, and has dismissed reports claiming the exercise was postponed.

In a statement on Wednesday, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka said reports circulating on social media and other platforms about changes to the timetable were false and misleading.

According to the schedule, the House of Representatives primary will hold on May 15, the Senate primary on May 18, and the state House of Assembly primary on May 20. The governorship primary is set for May 21, with the presidential primary to follow on May 23, 2026.

The party also began screening incumbent governors on Saturday ahead of the 2027 general election. Governors screened included Abba Yusuf of Kano, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe, Nasir Idris of Kebbi, Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau, Hyacinth Alia of Benue, Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, Umar Bago of Niger, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, Bassey Otu of Cross River, and Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto.
