Togo has removed visa requirements for nationals of all African countries visiting for short stays of up to 30 days.
The announcement was made on May 19 by Togo’s Ministry of Security via its official X account. The ministry said the policy aims to deepen African integration and improve mobility across the continent.
Under the new rule, African nationals holding valid passports can enter Togo without a visa for stays of up to 30 days. Travelers must still complete a travel declaration on the government’s official platform at least 24 hours before arrival to obtain a travel slip.
The ministry said the reform reflects President of the Council’s commitment to making Togo “a space of openness, mobility, opportunities, and cooperation at the heart of the African continent.”
The move follows similar visa-free policies introduced by other African countries, including Rwanda. In response, Nigeria has begun implementing a 30-day visa exemption for Rwandan nationals entering the country.
