Belgian club Royal Antwerp have announced the tragic death of former Southampton academy player Victor Udoh at the age of 21.

Udoh, a Nigerian winger, spent time at Southampton’s St Mary’s academy after joining from Royal Antwerp in January 2025, where he featured for the club’s under-21 side in Premier League 2, scoring two goals during his spell.
He later left Southampton by mutual consent in September before moving to Czech lower league side Dynamo České Budějovice.

Royal Antwerp confirmed his passing in a statement released on Tuesday, expressing deep sadness over the loss of the former player.

“It is with great sadness that RAFC has learned of the death of former player Victor Udoh,” the club said.
Udoh joined Antwerp during the 2023/24 season and made a strong impression with their youth side, scoring 12 goals in 21 matches for the Young Reds. He also made his senior debut for the club in a league match against Charleroi.

In total, he made 28 official appearances for Antwerp and registered two assists before his move to Southampton.
“Our thoughts are with Victor’s family, friends and loved ones. We wish them strength, support and warmth in this particularly difficult time,” the club added.
The cause of death has not yet been confirmed.
