An experimental Super Eagles side will take on Zimbabwe tonight in the semi-final of the Unity Cup as head coach Eric Chelle looks to assess new and emerging talents in his squad.
Nigeria will be without several key players for the encounter after captain Wilfred Ndidi, Moses Simon, Bruno Onyemaechi, Raphael Onyedika and Akor Adams missed the team’s final training session and will not be available for selection.
Despite the absences, experienced goalkeeper Francis Uzoho is expected to lead the side alongside defender Igoh Ogbu and midfielder Tochukwu Nnadi, who were all part of Nigeria’s squad at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Recalled duo Terem Moffi and Alhassan Yusuf are also expected to feature, while Millwall winger Femi Azeez and Plymouth Argyle striker Owen Oseni could make their Super Eagles debuts.

The eight Nigeria Premier Football League players included in the squad are also expected to get opportunities as Chelle continues to build his team ahead of future competitions.
Speaking before the game, Chelle expressed confidence in the players and emphasised the importance of mentality and commitment.
According to the coach, the new players have an opportunity to prove themselves and fight for a place in the main Super Eagles squad.
Zimbabwe are also expected to field several new faces as they continue their rebuilding process under the leadership of experienced midfielder Marvelous Nakamba.
The two teams have shared recent battles in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, with their first meeting ending in a 1-1 draw before Zimbabwe snatched a late equaliser in the reverse fixture in Uyo.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 7:30pm at The Valley Stadium in London.
