Seven members of the House of Representatives have switched parties, with six from Oyo State leaving the PDP for the Allied Peoples Movement.
Speaker Tajudeen Abbas announced the defections during Tuesday’s plenary, saying the letters were dated at various points in May.
The Oyo lawmakers moving to APM are: Adebayo Adepoju of Ibarapa North; Adedeji Olajide of Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West; Makanjuola Ojo of Ogooluwa/Surulere; Oyeshina Oyedeji of Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa; Folajimi Oyekunle of Ibadan North; and Abass Adigun of Ibadan North-East/South-East.
Also defecting from PDP to APM was Auwalu Gwalabe, who represents Katagum in Bauchi State.
Other party switches read on the floor: Alex Egbona of Cross River moved from APC to PDP; Shehu Dalhatu of Katsina went from APC to PDP; Esosa Iyawe of Edo left APC for the Nigeria Democratic Congress; Jonathan Gbefwi of Nasarawa switched from SDP to Labour Party; and Etanabene Benedict of Delta moved from Labour Party to PDP.
The Green Chamber has seen a steady stream of defections since January as politicians realign ahead of the 2027 general elections.
