Nigeria has no confirmed cases of Ebola, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention said Saturday.
NCDC Director-General Jide Idris said the country is 59% prepared for a potential outbreak. The agency strengthened surveillance after recent Ebola outbreaks in Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Officials noted Nigeria faces higher risk due to cross-border movement and international travel.
In a post on X, the NCDC addressed viral claims online: “We wish to clarify that there are currently no confirmed cases of Ebola in Nigeria. Any report stating otherwise is false.”
The agency said it’s keeping surveillance, preparedness, and response measures active nationwide, and urged Nigerians to follow its official social media for verified updates.
