President Bola Tinubu welcomed Madagascar’s President Michael Randrianirina to the State House in Abuja on Monday afternoon.
Randrianirina landed at the forecourt around 2:57pm and was received by Foreign Affairs Minister Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu. After brief pleasantries, he headed straight into a meeting with Tinubu in his office.
The two leaders aren’t strangers. They last met on the sidelines of the Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi last month, where talks focused on African solidarity, trade, and economic cooperation. In January, both were also in Dar es Salaam for the Mission 300 Energy Summit. That summit saw 12 African countries, including Nigeria and Madagascar, sign a pledge to bring electricity to 300 million people on the continent by 2030.
Officials say Monday’s Abuja meeting will build on those earlier discussions.
