The decision was announced shortly after the heavy loss, making Lamouchi the first manager to lose his job during the ongoing tournament.

The North African side endured a disappointing start to their World Cup campaign as Sweden dominated proceedings to hand the Carthage Eagles one of their heaviest defeats in recent tournament history.

Tunisia’s football authorities acted swiftly in the aftermath of the result, bringing an abrupt end to Lamouchi’s tenure amid concerns over the team’s performance and prospects in the competition.

Lamouchi, a former Ivory Coast and Qatar coach, took charge of Tunisia ahead of the tournament with hopes of guiding the team beyond the group stage.

However, the emphatic defeat to Sweden appears to have prompted an immediate review by the Tunisian Football Federation, which opted for a managerial change as the team seeks to revive its World Cup campaign.

Details regarding Lamouchi’s replacement are yet to be announced.

Tunisia are expected to name an interim coach ahead of their remaining group-stage fixtures as they attempt to keep their hopes of progressing alive.
