The Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in Maitama has remanded former Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), Danladi Umar, at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending the hearing of his bail application.
Justice Peter Kekemeke issued the order on Thursday after Umar was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a four-count charge bordering on allegedly conferring undue advantage on himself while serving as chairman of the tribunal.
Umar pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

During the proceedings, counsel to the EFCC, Christopher Mshelia, asked the court to fix a date for trial and remand the defendant in custody.
Counsel to Umar, however, informed the court that a bail application had already been filed on behalf of his client and urged the judge to hear the application.
The prosecution opposed the request, stating that it had only just been served with the bail application and required time to study and respond to it.
Justice Kekemeke subsequently adjourned the matter until July 15 for the hearing of the bail application and ordered that Umar be remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending the court’s decision.
