Nigeria will host the Confederation of African Football’s Ordinary General Assembly in November, bringing together football administrators and representatives from across the continent.
CAF President Patrice Motsepe announced the decision during a press briefing in Johannesburg, South Africa, where he outlined the continental football body’s plans for the development of the game following the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Motsepe said Nigeria was selected to host the gathering in recognition of its rich football heritage and significant contributions to the growth and development of the sport in Africa.
He added that CAF remained committed to ensuring that all 54 member associations benefit from its development programmes and investments.
The CAF Ordinary General Assembly is the governing body’s highest decision-making forum, where representatives of member associations deliberate on key issues, including governance, competitions and the future direction of African football.
Motsepe also expressed disappointment over Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, saying the tournament would have been better with the participation of the Super Eagles and other leading African teams.
He urged football stakeholders across the continent to strengthen their development efforts and work collectively towards achieving greater success for African football on the global stage.
