The Independent National Electoral Commission has reminded eligible Nigerians that the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise will end today, Sunday, July 26, 2026.
The commission urged citizens who are yet to register or need to update their voter information to take advantage of the final opportunity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a post on X on Sunday, INEC described the exercise as an important requirement for Nigerians who wish to participate in the forthcoming elections.
“Time is running out, but there’s still an opportunity to make your voice count,” the commission stated.
INEC said eligible citizens could complete the registration process through its Continuous Voter Registration portal or visit any of its state or local government offices before the deadline.
The exercise also covers voter transfer requests, correction of personal information and the replacement of lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards.
The closure marks the end of a nationwide voter registration exercise that has been conducted in phases over the past year.
The first phase began in August 2025 with online pre-registration, while physical registration commenced on August 25. By the end of the phase in December, INEC had recorded 2,572,054 completed registrations nationwide, comprising 1,503,832 online registrations and 1,068,222 in-person registrations.
The second phase ran from January 5 to April 17, 2026, during which the commission recorded 3,748,704 completed registrations across the country.
INEC subsequently commenced the third phase in May and later extended the exercise by two weeks in July to give more eligible Nigerians an opportunity to register.
With the deadline now reached, the electoral commission urged prospective voters to ensure they complete the necessary registration or update their records, stressing that voter registration is essential for citizens who wish to exercise their franchise in the 2027 general elections.
