No fewer than 176 people kidnapped in a February attack on two Kwara communities have been released and are now free.
The Kwara State Government announced the development on Wednesday in a post on its official Facebook page seen by our correspondent.
According to the statement, the victims were taken during the February 3 terrorist attack on Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of the state.
The government expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, security agencies, and all those involved in securing their release.
“Alhamdulillah and kudos to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, security forces, and everyone who played a role in this huge feat. We are grateful!” the post read.
Woro and Nuku are in Kaiama LGA in North-Central Nigeria. Authorities said more details on the rescue will be released later.
