The Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has directed members of the technical crew of the Super Falcons to step down from their positions with immediate effect.

The decision comes after the Super Falcons of Nigeria failed to qualify for next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil following a disappointing campaign at the just concluded Women Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco.
Nigeria’s hopes of securing a World Cup ticket were dealt a major blow after the Super Falcons suffered a 1–0 defeat to Cameroon in the quarter-finals. The Indomitable Lionesses went on to win the tournament on Sunday night after defeating Malawi 3–0 in the final.

The Super Falcons had also suffered a 3–2 defeat to Malawi in their opening group-stage match and won the other two matches against Zambia and Egypt respectively.
Nigeria later had another opportunity to qualify for the World Cup through the playoff route but lost 2-1 to South Africa ending their hopes of reaching the tournament in Brazil.

The failure to qualify for the World Cup represents a major setback for the Super Falcons who are among Africa’s most successful women’s football teams.
The NFF is expected to announce further decisions regarding the team’s technical structure following the directive for the current technical crew to step down.
